My name is Daniel Robison.
i was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. You may have heard of it. We’re a city known for having “the most strip clubs and churches per capita!” Please, hold your applause till the end...
I was raised in an evangelical church. I believe that God has a sense of humor because he decided to make me the only gay person in my giant religious family. Let it be known, I’ve never done anything small… so when I found the courage to come out, loud and proud, on my conservative Christian campus it was met with shock, grief, and an unlatching from everything I knew about god, love, and family...
during that dumpster fire, I bleached my hair “place-beyond-the-pines” blonde and created the web series: Closet Space. (See works).
After wrapping, I moved to brooklyn new york and got my master’s of fine arts in Acting at The Actors Studio Drama School.
During that time, I also made a short film called “Dressed as Girl.” (See works), acted in a few off-off Broadway plays (see here), and let my hair return to its natural color.
Now based in Atlanta georgia, I am developing projects at curbside pictures with my partner in crime molly mcilhargey. aiming to bring works to life that align with my artistic mission statement: “To bring joy to an audience in the midst of deep suffering.”
my work explores the funny in miserable. in my own life, I’ve come to learn that suffering is never only dark. it’s also rich with wisdom, spiritually layered, downright hysterical, and the impetus from which hope stems.
